Breakfast for 500: Domino's
Employee Rewards
When Domino's Pizza turned 25, they
turned to 1-800-Bakery.com to plan a celebration. Domino's
wanted to thank its employees for their contributions and
to raise awareness of this important milestone in the company's
history. Since the stores got busy in the afternoon and
evening, Domino's wanted to provide breakfast for employees
at more than 500 locations.
The challenges were considerable: Finding a breakfast menu
that could be scaled to different locations and delivering
in time for the celebration to 17 states and three Canadian
provinces. Our first step was to develop sample menus in
a variety of price ranges. Domino's chose our mini Danish
trays, which could easily be scaled to the number of employees
at each store. They supplemented the Danish with more than
50 cakes with custom logos for their distribution centers
and corporate offices. We received a JPEG of the Domino's
logo and created a design for the top of the cake, which
was printed on edible paper and sent to Bittersweet Pastries.
A custom order of Vanilla Birthday Cakes with complete party
kits was put together, featuring unique candy decorations
that complemented the Domino's color scheme.
As the bakers went to work, we worked out a distribution
plan with our partners at UPS, taking advantage of Ground
shipping on the East Coast to reduce the overall shipping
cost. Deliveries had to be timed so that the Danish and
cakes would arrive on the same day from New York to California,
which meant shipping over the course of two days.
The Danish and cakes arrived on time for the celebration,
and Domino's employees enjoyed their birthday breakfast,
just one of many treats that we've supplied as employee
gifts.
